Y6 House Captain Elections
Friday 5th July 2024
House Captains play a significant role in primary school life, fostering leadership, teamwork, and a sense of responsibility among our older pupils. At Otterbourne C of E Primary School, we place great importance on this role, as our House Captains not only represent their houses but also act as role models, helping to inspire and motivate their peers.
This year, we tied our House Captain elections to the timing of the General Election, allowing the children to gain a deeper understanding of the British value of democracy. They experienced first hand the importance of campaigning, voting, and making their voices heard, mirroring the democratic process on a national scale.
By engaging in this real-world context, the children learned valuable lessons about fairness, leadership, and the significance of active participation in a community. We are proud of all the candidates who took part and the positive example they set for their peers, and we look forward to seeing the contributions our House Captains will make throughout the year.
