SÓN eWaste Project - The Final Film

In an inspiring collaboration between Year 3 and 4 students, Southampton Orchestra, a local artist (Susannah), and a local musician (Ricky), an innovative project titled unfolded. The project aimed to raise awareness about electronic waste while nurturing creativity and musical talents among the young participants.

Throughout the academic year, the children engaged in a multifaceted exploration of e-waste, delving into its environmental impact and the importance of responsible electronic consumption. Guided by their teachers, they collaborated with the Southampton Orchestra, learning about orchestral arrangements and the power of music as a means of communication.

To add a unique artistic touch, a local artist joined the project, guiding the children in transforming discarded electronic components into captivating visual pieces. Simultaneously, a beatboxer mentored the students, incorporating rhythmic and percussive elements into their musical compositions.

The culmination of this interdisciplinary endeavor took place in a grand performance, where the young talents showcased their original songs in front of an enthusiastic audience of over 200 people. Backed by the impressive Southampton Orchestra, the children seamlessly integrated electronic waste visuals into their performance, creating a powerful and thought-provoking spectacle.

This project not only showcased the musical prowess of the students but also conveyed a poignant message about the need for responsible e-waste management. The project fostered a sense of community and creativity, leaving a lasting impact on both the participants and the audience, reinforcing the belief that art and education can come together to inspire positive change.
